The Battle As Beginners Is Maintaining Spine Angle!

The hardest part about starting golf is being able to stay balanced through the swing. Everyone who begins inevitably has many moving parts in the swing causing errant shots.  Over time to become more consistent, it will be about limiting excessive body movement. The first step toward this, is trying to maintain spine angle through the backswing and downswing.

Maintaining spine angle may sound simple enough but when we combine turn to the body and movement of the club, it can become quite a challenge. The best way to maintain spine angle is first establishing a strong posture. You want to make sure that the spine is tilted at a 45 Degree Angle with the back straight and little knee flex. You want to also ensure that the pressure is in the middle of your feet. Once you've established this posture just try and turn your body so the left shoulder reaches under the chin. If you've kept your pressure in the middle of your feet, the chances are you would have taken a great step toward maintaining spine angle.

The next step toward maintaining spine angle is trying to keep your head stable whilst you turn. The biggest key is putting pressure inside both feet and practicing pulling your right hip back during the backswing. Pulling the right hip back will ensure you don't sway your hips which will inevitably keep your stable. In terms of stabilising your head, just try and focus on the back of the ball. Focusing on a certain part of the ball will naturally keep you more in balance during the backswing and downswing.

The last step to maintaining spine angle is how your club swings to the top of the backswing. The biggest mistake people make is trying to keep their left arm straight for too long on the backswing. You want to ensure that you gradually hinge your wrists as the club swings to the top of the swing. The goal is to reach a 90 Degree angle between your left arm and shaft. By having your arms come up this way, it will ensure once again that your body becomes more stable.
